Entertainment Operations Business Intern - Special Events
Job Description:Selected candidates are placed in an In-Park Event Coordinator position within the Entertainment department. Interns will also be required to participate in the following developmental activities throughout the summer:
Attend seminars held by various departments within the park, including Culinary Operations, Design & Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchandise, and Park Operations
Attend business, leadership, and professional development classes taught by park leadership
Park tours with members of the park leadership team
Planned meeting sessions with members of the park’s senior leadership team
Complete an Internship project where interns work with leaders throughout the park on an assignment designed to improve the park and its operations
Complete an evaluation process throughout the entire internship period designed to help selected candidates gain real job experience and develop/improve their performance during the entire length of the internship
Interns will also have the experience of front-line involvement, overseeing a team of employees and providing guidance and direction to their team as they interact with thousands of guests daily
Responsibilities Include: Interns will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:
Executes all pre-determined event details as agreed upon between the park and client, and serves as client liaison.
Ensures the quality of all special events and picnics, including internal, corporate, youth, and military groups.
Implements on-site logistical set up and breakdown of Sound Waves performances, including choral, band and dance groups.
Ensures the quality of music festivals, to include set up and breakdown, as well as any festival client requests.
Handles the transportation of talent, coordinates meet and greets, and maintains backstage green rooms for any concert needs.
Executes community partner events, pass member events and all other special events as needed.
Ensure park theming and signage is consistent with overall park quality expectations.
Follows department and park safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all clients and their guests.
Participates in other duties as assigned that support park and departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements and Competencies
Must be currently pursuing a college degree
Commit to working through the 2018 peak operating season (mid May– mid August)
Flexible availability (schedules include nights, weekend and holidays)
Ability and willingness to work both indoor and outdoor events
Positive attitude, ability to thrive in team work and solo work environments
Proven skills in the areas of coordination, collaboration, problem solving, communication, and negotiation
Previous theme park experience preferred
Previous Event and Hospitality guest service is preferred
Locations and positions will be based upon applicant qualifications and availability. Leadership positions are limited and promotional opportunities may be available through the summer. This is a paid internship and can be used for credits based on the requirements of your College or University. Please see your school for requirements.
