Our Environmental Manager ensures that the Busch Gardens (BGW), Housing Village (IHV), and Water Country USA (WCUSA) facilities are compliant with all federal, state and local environmental regulations; Develops and conducts environmental training for all applicable employees; Is responsible for the development and implementation of the hazardous communication and respiratory protection programs. Supervises a full-time hourly EHS Specialist. Is responsible for the supervision and assignment of tasks to the EHS Specialist & ensuring work is completed in an accurate and timely manner. Oversees and coordinates conservation initiatives for recycling, utility use, and waste generation at the BGW, IHV, and WCUSA facilities. Provides leadership and technical expertise to develop and implement programs, practices, and training for all Williamsburg locations to ensure compliance with company policy with relevant regulations.
Principal Duties Are:
Develop, implement, and review environmental programs and procedures and ensure they are implemented and maintained effectively at each park location.
Manage activities and provide leadership direction to Park Senior management, park EHS department and all team members.
Support and participate in the environmental audit program.
Plan and conduct environmental/safety audits.
Ensure that federal, state, and local environmental regulations are observed and that chemical management approved practices are consistently applied.
Collect, analyze, implement action plans and reports to meet company targets for energy use, water use, and waste reduction. Establish park location ownership and drive corrective measures as required.
Interface with applicable regulatory authorities (e.g. EPA, FDEP, etc.) and others as applicable to develop and maintain cooperative business and community relationships for all park locations.
Inspect and assess environmental waste and recycling site facilities and practices at park locations, on and off site to ensure that effective protocols and functional equipment are in place to minimize pollution and comply with applicable company and/or government regulations.
Serves as a member of the EHS Duty rotation in support of the Park’s operating schedule.
Coordinates Environmental training and programs for Williamsburg Team Members.
Oversees the assignments and performance of the EHS Specialist.
Provides Environmental Training.
Development and Implementation of environmental plans and procedures, with testing, inspections, and inventory controls. *Ensuring proper record keeping.
Candidates with the following qualifications will be considered:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science or related degree.
Must be proficient with federal and State of Virginia environmental programs.
At least 3 years of experience in the environmental field required.
Prior supervisory leadership experience required.
Experience in a theme park operation preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with and advising multiple layers of management (supervisors through executives) required.
Demonstrated experience analyzing and reporting trends to leadership levels preferred.
Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office or Windows based programs required.
Excellent human relations skills required to facilitate work with all departments and various levels of management.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Proven capacity to interpret environmental/safety regulations and identify compliance requirements as applicable
Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
